Prairie View Mission At Prairie View Elementary our mission is to provide a rigorous and enriching educational program with high expectations for all students. We do this by collaborating as a school community and providing support for each student at the earliest sign of need. We do this so that each student can achieve their highest academic, personal and life goals, and experience the joy of success on the pathway to life-long learning. At Prairie View Elementary We Believe… …kids come first …we must provide a safe environment for students …parent involvement is crucial to student success …in all students’ ability to achieve high levels of learning …in high expectation for all stakeholders Prairie View Principles Prairie View Hawks are Respectful, Responsible, Cooperative, Honest and Appreciative of Others.

Here at Prairie View, we love to showcase great student work. Throughout the year you will be noticing decorative bulletin boards all over the school. The purpose of the board is to address standards and show how students met those standards. This allows you to know exactly what is going on in the classroom. The boards show the connection between a student’s work, the standard the work is to meet, and the assessment used to decide when the work is placed on the board. Only work that meets, or exceeds the standard is chosen to be on the board. Also, only a few pieces of work are chosen to showcase in the hallways. This encourages quality work and dedication to a finished product. More work will be shown throughout the classroom! We encourage you to come check out the quality work your child is doing! Standards Based Bulletin Boards

You can help by… Visiting our websites – Doing homework with your child –We will be checking daily to see that homework is completed. Reading with your child –One of the most important and easiest ways you can help.

D – Developed SD – Still Developing X – Experiencing Difficulty Grading Backpacks and Folders Please be sure that your child has their backpack and folder every day. This is a good habit to get into now. We will soon be sending home readers and these will be expected to go back and forth to school every day.

We ask that you volunteer as much as you can in and out of the classroom. We love to have parents come up and read with the children and your children love to see you here. Also, there is always help needed in the office for other things as well. Consider joining Prairie View PTA! Volunteers and PTA

Thank you for coming to Curriculum Night. If you have any questions feel free to contact your child’s teacher. We are confident that this is going to be a very successful year!
