Working Women Hostel: An Overview To provide safe, secure and suitable accommodation to working women at a reasonable rate. - The scheme provides assistance for construction of new hostel buildings, expansion of existing hostel buildings and for running hostels in rented premises. Working women: may be single, widowed, divorced, separated, married but whose husband or immediate family does not reside in the same city/area. Particular preference to women from disadvantaged sections Women who are being trained for employment also entitled to seek accommodation 887 hostels have been sanctioned so far with a capacity of around inmates across the country. Completion reports of 180 hostels not received.
Revision of Scheme in 2009 Financial assistance for construction grant only on public land. Assistance also available for hostels in rented premises.
