An on-going, coordinated program of strategies, plans and procedures Ensures critical resources are available in the event of a physical disruption to any part of the university Changes as the university changes Business continuity bridges the gap between a disaster and recovery Business continuity identifies weak links in the flow of information & establishes procedures to eliminate downtime

G OALS OF B USINESS C ONTINUITY P LANNING Protect our students, faculty, and staff Define service alternatives for critical processes, applications, and hardware Minimize the extent of interruption Limit financial losses and hardships Enhance University confidence

S OME K EY E LEMENTS THAT MAKE UP B USINESS CONTINUITY P LANS Teams needed to restore processes Tasks that need to be performed Vendor Information – who will you rely on for supplies, resources, etc. Software, equipment, and supplies needed to restore services Call Lists

P LAN U PDATES AND E XERCISING Plans should be reviewed for changes at least every 6 months or anytime there is a change in staffing or the processes. We will assist you with exercising your plan every months, including one overall university exercise on a yearly basis. You may want to exercise other elements such as the calling tree MORE often.
