The solar system was formed around 4.6 billion years ago. The inner planets are smaller and made mostly out of rock and metal. OUR SOLAR SYSTEM BY LYNDEN SHIPMAN

The sun is a star. The sun is the hottest planet in our solar system. OUR SUN

The surface of Mercury is similar to our moon. The planet Mercury is the 3RD planet. MERCURY

Venus and Earth are the some size only 638 km different. The moon is brighter than Venus. VENUS

Earth is the planet we live on. When you are in space the Earth look mostly blue that is the water. EARTH

Mars is the 4 planet from the sun. The color of Mars is orange and black. MARS

Asteroids are small bodies of the solar system. The Asteroids also orbit around the sun. THE ASTEROID BELT

Jupiter is the 5th planet from the sun. Jupiter is more massive than all the other planets combined JUPITER

Saturn is the 6 planet from the sun. Saturn has rings that are visible. SATURN

Uranus is a gas planet. Uranus has 27 moons. URANUS

Neptune has at least 13 moons. Winds can reach at least 2,000 miles per hour. NEPTUNE

Pluto is 1 dwarf planet. Pluto has a rocky surface. THE DWARF PLANET

Galaxies have at least 1 million stars. The Galaxy has three different parts to it. GALAXY

A Comet is an icy body that releases gas or dust. They often are compared to dirty snow balls. COMET

The Universe is constantly being destroyed. The Universe spans diameter of over 150 billion miles. UNIVERSE

Some Dwarf planets are Pluto, Eris and more. There are at least 6 Dwarf planets in our solar system. OTHER DWARF PLANETS

Telescope helps you see far. They were first being used in the 17 th century. TELESCOPE

A Constellation is a group of stars that form into patterns. There are different Constellations like Luaus the hare. CONSTELLATION

Other stars are giant, luminous spheres of plasma. There are millions of other stars in our Milky Way galaxy. OTHER STARS
