POPs pollution control measures 1. Enhancing state management: -Development of legal framework for management POPs, POPs contaminated sites and chemical pollution in general -Strengthening POPs inspection and enforcement to reduce the impact and prevent the new contaminated sites produced. -Control and reduce the risks: -Continue inventory and monitor the contaminated sites -Carry out risk assessment and management 12

Conclusion and recommendation –Under the framework of Stockholm Convention and other Vietnam environmental protection programs, active measures are being implemented for management of POPs contaminated sites –Different management tools are being developed and applied to control POPs: legal, technical and public awareness –A number of POPs related projects have been being developed and implemented: POP Pesticides-UNDP; PCB-WB, SDC; BAT-BEP- UNIDO; AO; Contaminated sites –Gov’t Budget ‘’15

–Maintain the great efforts in management and risk control for POPs and POPs contaminated sites –Continue to develop a full legal framework, especially for old storage sites and to control U-POPs. –Continue to raise awareness on POPs risks, targeting more onto business and public communities. –Increase financial support –Assessment and selection of appropriate technologies for POPs treatment in Vietnam –Integrated mechanism to manage POPs in framework of waste management, chemicals management and and environmental protection in general 16 Challenges …
