Lord of the Flies: Character List Chapter One: Ralph Piggy Jack Merridew Sam’n Eric Simon Johnny-6 Maurice, Bill, Robert, Harold, Henry

Chapter 1 Answer questions in complete sentences in your notes Chapter 1 Answer questions in complete sentences in your notes. Questions will we collected periodically.   What happened to the plane that made these boys stranded on the island? According to Piggy, why is it likely no one, including the people at the airport, knows where they are? Take notes on how each of the individuals and groups of characters are described, physically as well as how they act. What does Ralph suggest is necessary for helping out with their rescue? What do the boys accomplish by the end of the chapter? Have you ever been really embarrassed in front of people? What did you do next?

In the middle of your piece of paper: AS A GROUP, MAKE A POSTER INCLUDING… In the middle of your piece of paper: Each group should draw Piggy, Jack, Ralph or 1 other character. The drawing should include: Physical drawing of the character, including clothes Setting that defines the character Items that seem to define the character of this person A quotation that shows something about the character On the left of your piece of paper: List negative qualities of your character, with at least one quotation that shows each quality On the right of your piece of paper: List positive qualities of your character, with at least one quotation that shows each quality.

Post Drawings: Students make a chart, comparing Jack, Piggy, Ralph, and 1 other character as leaders. Walk around class and view each groups poster. Students decide who they would vote for as the leader. Why?
