American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009: Title I, Part A Recovery Funds for Grants to LEAs Opportunity to implement innovative strategies to improve education for at-risk children

Intent of Congress Use of Title I funds for early childhood programs and activities Commitment to expand early childhood educational opportunities and create more seamless web of high quality services for families

Potential Uses of Funds Strengthen and expand early childhood education by providing resources to align Title I Pre-K with state early learning standards for grades K-3 Expand high quality Title I Pre-K programs

AARA Guidance: DOE (April 2009) Use of Funding Reporting Requirements Allocations

Flexible Funding Title I funds can be used for preschool or to supplement or expand other early childhood education programs, such as state-funded prekindergarten, Head Start, Even Start, or Early Reading First. Title I funds may be used in conjunction with existing programs.

And WHY Should We Spend Stimulus $ on Title I Pre-K??? For the Children, Of Course!!!
