Story: My Brother Martin

Unfair treatment of a person or thing. The student was upset at the injustice of not having a snow day.

Including or made up of a large number. The sky was filled with numerous stars.

The act of segregating or the condition of being separated. Laws of segregation once kept African American and white Americans separate.

Helping to promote life, growth, or strength. Water and sunlight are nourishing for a plant.

To hold by force or skill. The yarn captured the kittens attention.

Something hoped for. The man’s dream was to win the lottery.

An unexpected meeting with a person or thing. He had several encounters with a snake.

To like better The girl preferred the brightly colored boots over the black boots.

To remember. She could not recall how to get back to the park.

Something or someone that should be copied. A firefighter is an example of someone who shows bravery.
