DELIA A. ARCISO Researcher The Effect of Using Multimedia and Team Teaching on the Science Achievement Level of Fourth Year Students of Libertad National High School

 Education encounters over population, education philosophy development and the change of teacher’s role, the spread of illiteracy, lack of staff and the technological development and mass media. RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

 Welch, Bownell and Seridan(1999) described team teaching as a restructuring of teaching procedures in which two or more educators who possess distinct sets of skills, work in a co- active and co-ordinate fashion to jointly teach academically and behaviorally heterogeneous groups of students in an educationally integrated classroom setting. RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

This study is focused in finding out the effect of using multimedia and team teaching and its uses in education on thestudent’s academic achievement, especially the fourth year students of Libertad National High School in comparison with their colleagues who benefit from this curriculum through traditional education. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. Is there any significant difference between the average marks of the experimental group and that of the control group in the pretest of the fourth year student’s academic achievement in science subject? STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

2. Is there any significant difference between the average of the experimental group and that of the control group in the post test of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in science subject? STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

3. Is there any significant difference between the average marks of the experimental group and that of the control group in the pre and posttest of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in science subject? STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1. There is difference between the average marks of the experimental group and that of the control group in the pre-test of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in the science subject. HYPOTHESES

2. There is significant difference between the average marks of the experimental group and that of the control group in the posttest of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in science subject. HYPOTHESES

3. There is significant difference between the average marks of the experimental group and that of the control in the pre and posttest of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in the science subject. HYPOTHESES

The scope of the study is confined to the science achievement level of the fourth year students of Libertad National High School, School Year SCOPE OF THE STUDY

1. It allows reaching a simplified strategy which leads to easy understanding of the part of the students. 2. It raises the students' academic achievement in science subject. 3. It encourages the use of multimedia and team teaching in the school environment. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY INSTRUMENTS PRETEST/ POST TEST RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS 4 TH YEAR STUDENTS NARRA EUCALYPTUS RESEARCH DESIGN QUASI EXPERIMENTAL STATISTICAL TREATMENT MEAN T-test

 Results of the pretest of the control and experimental groups It reveals that there is no significant difference between the control and experimental groups at the significant level of 0.05 in the pre-test which indicates the equivalence of the two groups. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

 Results of the post test for the experimental and the control groups. Table shows significant difference between the control and the experimental groups at the significant level of 0.05 in the post test in favor of the experimental group. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

 Comparison between the results of the pre and posttest for the control and experimental groups Table shows that there is a significant difference between the pre and posttest at the significant level of 0.05 for both the control and the experimental groups RESULTS AND DISCUSSION GroupPretest Mean t-statPosttest Mean t-stat Control Experimental

1. There is no significant difference between the mean of the experimental group and that of the control group in the pretest of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in the Science subject. CONCLUSIONS

2. There is significant difference between the mean of the experimental group and that of the control group. in the posttest of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in the Science subject. CONCLUSIONS

3. There is a significant difference between the mean of the experimental group and that of the control group in the pre and posttest of the fourth year students’ academic achievement in the Science subject. CONCLUSIONS

3. It is observed that the development of the academic achievement for the experimental group is greater than that of the control group. This stresses the effective use of multimedia and team teaching in presenting lessons. CONCLUSIONS

According to the study results which indicated the effective use of multimedia and team teaching compared to the traditional methods of teaching, the study recommends the following: RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Use of multimedia and team teaching in presenting lessons. 2. Stress the use of multimedia as an educational tool in teaching. RECOMMENDATIONS

3. Give training courses to teachers regarding the use of multimedia in teaching not only to Science subjects but also to other subjects. RECOMMENDATIONS

4. Conduct more studies on using multimedia and team teaching in the academic curriculum in Libertad National High School.
