Acts 2 1, Holy Spirit speaks and works; 2, People respond to the Holy Spirit in words and actions

People’s response in Words– Vv.37-40: Repent Be baptized in Jesus’ name Receive forgiveness of sins Receive the Holy Spirit

People’s response in Actions– Vv.41-47: Basic activities in the life of the church: Teaching Fellowship Breaking of bread(Lord’s supper) Prayer

Our response to the Holy Spirit’s work: As individuals(vv.37-38): Where are you now in the relationship with God? Do you realize your sinfulness and need for salvation? Have you repented of your sins– turned away from sin and turned to God?

Matthew22:37-39: Jesus replied: ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”

Our response to the Holy Spirit’s work: As individuals(vv.37-38): Have your been baptized in the name of Jesus and received forgiveness of sins? Have you received the Holy Spirit?

Our response to the Holy Spirit’s work: Together with other believers—the church (vv.42-47): Are you committed to the church and participating in the life of the church—teaching, fellowship, Lord’s supper, prayer? Are you exercising your faith and praying for the Holy Spirit’s power to see amazing things happen as we serve God?

Are you sharing what you have with your brothers and sisters in need? Are you worshipping God in church and in small group? Are you working with God’s people in the power of the Holy Spirit to see God add more people every day?

Carried by the wind of the Holy Spirit Acts2:37-47

Scripture Reading Acts 2:37-47 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’

Scripture Reading Acts 2:37-47 38 Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture Reading Acts 2:37-47 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’ 38 Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off – for all whom the Lord our God will call.’

Scripture Reading Acts 2:37-47 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ 41 Those who accepted his message were baptised, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Scripture Reading Acts 2:37-47 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.

Scripture Reading Acts 2:37-47 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
