Planet dynamics simulator NoA (Newton's Apple) Takahiro Koishi University of Fukui

What is NoA? one of the solar system simulator 3D graphics (OpenGL) focus on the dynamics of planet position, velocity, mass of all planets (including Sun and Pluto) are variable simple GUI (graphical user interface)

Brief history of NoA Visualized Molecular Dynamics of NaCl (2001) Dancing Molecule Simulator (2002) demo program of molecular simulation NoA (ver.0.31) for Universe ( ) prototype version NoA (ver.1.00) coming soon polished version

View stop time ON/OFF console ON/OFF orbit ON/OFF lighting ON/OFF velocity and force arrow ON/OFF name ON/OFF scale mode default, relative, absolute

Position and velocity operation You can move a planet position by mouse operation You can change a direction and magnitude of velocity by mouse operation

Add a new planet Red apple Mass is the same as the earths mass White apple Mass is the same as the suns mass = =

Examples Solar system billiard shot white apple to the sun Oscillated orbit put a planet near the orbit of the Jupiter trajectory of the planet oscillate inside and outside of the orbit of the Jupiter Unstable orbit put a planet near the orbit of the Jupiter arbitrary

Summary NoA represent the dynamics of planet Experiments that use the planet can be achieved Calculation cost is not heavy Accuracy of the simulation is not high (integrator is leap-frog, time step is fixed) I hope NoA is good tool to understand planet dynamics
