Posters Children at work

Habits of mind

Applying past knowledge to new situations Children in groups had five tasks in producing posters. This is the introduction to WHAT the habits of mind were. First, the children needed to define “important” words in the heading. Second, the children needed to say what they believed the icon represented. Third, they needed to identify when they might apply the habit. Fourth, the group needed to report their “habit” to the class. I had eight groups so each group had 2 habits. All children needed to take notes on other presentations. Finally, groups needed to come up with a catchy slogan to go with a poster they produced of a habit they had not researched. Posters are displayed in the corridor.
