Sixth Summit Mandates on Education POVERTY, INEQUALITY AND INEQUITY Promote public policies on early childhood care and access to comprehensive and quality education Ensure equal access to primary and secondary education for all Promote improvement in the quality of education at all levels Increase access to tertiary, technical, and vocational education, with particular attention to vulnerable groups and those with special education needs, using, inter alia, the modality of distance learning Promote strengthening of literacy programs Foster greater international exchange of students Improve access to quality education for girls, especially in rural areas Improve capacities of schools, teachers, civil society, and communities to reduce the barriers to regular attendance for women and girls Promote technical and vocational education and training opportunities

Sixth Summit Mandates on Education ACCESS TO AND USE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES Enable educational centers and health facilities, including in remote and rural areas, to enjoy equitable and affordable access to, and use of, expanded broadband, information and communication technologies (ICTs), and computers Promote and establish programs to encourage the training of teachers for the inclusion and effective use of ICTs in education, and for the production and sharing of relevant educational materials in each country Promote the more intensive application of ICTs in health to improve the efficiency of countries health information systems, including the expansion of continuing education programs for health workers and the population

Sixth Summit Mandates on Education CITIZEN SECURITY AND TRANSNATIONAL ORGANIZED CRIME Strengthen the administration of public security by governmental agencies through promotion of citizen and community participation, institutional coordination, and training and education of civilian and police personnel

Implementation Program for Sixth Summit Mandates

100,000 Strong in the Americas 100,000 Strong in the Americas aims to encourage prosperity in the Americas by fostering the international exchange of students in Latin America and the Caribbean. The initiative is the partnership of governments, universities and the private sector and is intended to promote a more diverse student profile. Actions: Expansion of exchanges and partnerships between universities in the U.S. and Latin America. Cooperation with governments of the hemisphere in terms of academic assessment, assistance with placement in the target program and coordination to ensure timely access to educational services and visas. Promotion of student diversity through incorporation of various institutions around the country including Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic- serving institutions, Native American Tribal colleges, and community colleges. Sixth Summit of the Americas Mandate on Poverty, Inequality and Inequity: To foster greater international exchange of students, in order to provide them with the greatest possible learning opportunities.
