CEOSnet Update WGISS Infrastructure Task Team (WITT) Dave Hartzell, NASA Ames / CSC WGISS-20 September Kiev, Ukraine

CEOSnet CEOSnet is a virtual network organization; –Utilizes existing government and academic networks. Intended to support CEOS/WGISS related network activities. Network performance monitoring was a critical component of CEOSnet.

CEOSnet Monitoring CEOSnet monitoring gives indications of application-level performance. Network performance is tested between CEOSnet hosts throughout the world on various networks. –Performance is impacted by: Delay (round-trip times, distance); Congestion (packet loss); CEOSNet host configuration. Monitoring is done by the NASA Ensight system; –Andy Germain, GSFC / Swales Aerospace.

Ensight The NASA Ensight system was developed by EOS to passively and actively monitor and record historical network performance; Ensight (for CEOS) available at: ceos/index.shtml

Throughput History Packet Loss

Router hops Round-trip times, in milliseconds

Testing Matrix Testing can be configured between CEOSnet test hosts. Currently a full-matrix is not configured. Please contact myself or Mr. Andy Germain to add hosts or test matrices.
