Page th IETF – San Francisco, CA, March 2009 WSON RWA Framework Describes wavelength switched optical networks (WSON), subsystems, models and associated processes. Emphasizing those aspects that are different from other technologies that utilize a GMPLS control plane. Provide computation architecture options and a high-level information necessary for path computation (RWA). –Info draft provides details of information model: Routing and Wavelength Assignment Information Model for Wavelength Switched Optical Networks (draft-ietf-ccamp-rwa-info-01.txt) Summarize implications to GMPLS routing and signaling, and to PCE protocols. Does not address optical impairments

Page th IETF – San Francisco, CA, March 2009 Changes Rename file –draft-ietf-ccamp-rwa-wson-framework-xx to differentiate from impairment work. Added new first level section on modeling examples and control plane use cases. Added new third level section on wavelength converter pool modeling

Page th IETF – San Francisco, CA, March 2009 Next Steps Refine Usage Scenarios –Optimization could use some elaboration Continue Alignment with emerging drafts such as info model, encoding and signaling. Align with ITU-T terminology for optical signals –Recent Q6 meeting indicated that these are called Optical Tributary Signals (G.959.1). This terminology is also used in G and G Editorial corrections and enhancements
