DSMIPv6 Home Network Type Extensions George Tsirtsis On behalf of Karen Nielsen

DSMIPv6 Home Network DSMIPv6 home network is assumed to be dual stack network –provides IPv4 and IPv6 network access HA v6HA_Addr v4HA_Addr MN v6HoA v4HoA

Proposed Extension Extend (add-on) DSMIPv6 to support –To address single version home links (e.g., legacy 3GPP) IPv4-only Home Network IPv6-only Home Network IPv6 or IPv4 is tunneled as if at foreign network IPv4-only home network IPv6 home network is virtual IPv6-only home network IPv4 home network is virtual HA v6HA_Addr MN v6HoA v4HA_Addr v4HoA HA v4HA_Addr MN v4HoA v6HA_Addr v6HoA Global Ipv4/Ipv6 connectivity HA v6HA_Addr MN v6HoA v4HA_Addr v4HoA HA v4HA_Addr MN v4HoA v6HA_Addr v6HoA Global Ipv4/Ipv6 connectivity

IPv4 Access NW only At Home v4HoA is acquired via DHCPv4 v6HoA is acquired using IKEv2 BU is sent to register v4HoA as CoA of v6HoA Returning Home v4 Home Network recognized BU is sent to –de-register CoA binding of v4HoA –update CoA binding of v6HoA to v4HoA IPv6 Access NW only At Home v6HoA is acquired via ND/DHCPv6 v4HoA is acquired by IKEv2 BU is sent to register v6HoA as CoA of v4HoA Returning Home v6 Home Network recognized BU is sent to –de-register CoA binding of v6HoA –update CoA binding of v4HoA to v6HoA Basic Idea, possible solution

Impact on current operation Conceptual change + technical change Protocol operation: –Allow for split of v4HoA and v6HoA binding information in DSMIP BUs –Figure out backward compatibility
