The Importance of Early Childhood Philosophies?

Early Childhood Education These centers support the various needs and goals of children and families. Each center incorporates a philosophy that is unique to that program.

The Prentice School Prentice school teaches children with specific language disabilities the skills they need to succeed in today’s world.

Prentice school uses a multi-sensory approach to help students develop an enthusiasm for learning, academic competence, effective work habits, self-discipline and confidence.

North Orange County Regional Occupational Program Training occurs through classroom instruction and participation in a laboratory preschool program. Focus is on experiential learning and developmentally appropriate practices. As part of instruction, this course reinforces skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and mathematics and requires their application in workplace situations.

Integrated throughout the course are career preparation standards, which include communication, ethics, interpersonal/team skills, critical thinking and problem solving, safety, technology, and other employment skills. Students are given opportunities to demonstrate personal qualities, including responsibility, self-confidence, and self-management.

Santa Ana College Child Development Center The centers represent a wide range of economic levels and ethnic backgrounds. They believe this helps children learn to value differences.

In their centers, children always come first - before planned curriculum, before rules and before adult convenience. They provide a flexible environment so children have a great amount of control over their own activities. This encourages learning because play is the child's most valuable learning tool. It helps them to learn self awareness and problem solving.

Value of project for teaching and students This project was an excellent opportunity to observe Early Childhood centers and experience current trends in the field. Students gain knowledge of research technology, emerging philosophies and reflect upon their own beliefs of the most enriching environment for children.
