Round 8 Sustainability Report Conducted interviews with 15 grantees Goal: Determine the lasting impact of the Community POWER grant project. Findings: A high number of grantee organizations continue to offer some waste reduction education. 87% of groups continue to offer waste reduction information and/or programming. Since, 2008 former grantees have reached nearly 23,000 additional people. Waste reduction and internal waste management practices became a larger priority for all the organizations. 67% of the organizations created replicable products or programs. Round 8 Catalytic Impact of Community POWER 75% of the organizations have instituted things like energy and water conservation measures. All of the responding project managers stated that they have made personal changes in their environmental behavior. Community POWER: A program of the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board

Round 10 Stillwater Area Schools, Office of Equity & Integration Part of a collaborative, Stillwater, St. Paul and other suburban school districts, supporting voluntary integration. Exchanges between students of partnering schools at Dodge Nature Center focused on composting. Valley Branch Environmental Learning Center staff visited each classroom to construct worm compost bins. Students will be teaching other students and families using activity trunks and a 3R rap song they have created. Community POWER: A program of the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board

Round 10 St. John Vianney School, South St. Paul Students took a field trip to the Recycling Zone to learn about landfills and recycling. Theyve created a Facebook page, videos, displays and projects to illustrate what theyve learned. The year-long project culminated with a public event on March 24, in which the students shared what they learned. Community POWER: A program of the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board
