There are three types of double displacement reactions: a reaction that forms a solid a reaction that forms a gas a reaction that forms water (neutralization)

A reaction that forms a solid: A common observation during a double displacement reaction is the formation of a solid precipitate ex. Pb(NO 3 ) 2 (aq) + 2KI (aq)  PbI 2 (s) + 2KNO 3 (aq)
