CHAMPS… Conversation Voice Levels 0 – No Talking 1 – Whisper Voice 2 – Conversation Voice 3 – Presentation Voice 4 – Outside Voice Help Activity Movement Participation Success

Students are expected to follow the 4 B’s… Be Safe Be Here and Be Ready Be Respectful Be Responsible

Rewards are given for following the 4 B’s. Everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes inappropriate choices are made. If this should happen, consequences will be determined accordingly. They could include… *loss of a reward *time deducted from recess *a note or a phone call home

Class Meetings Class Meetings occur on a weekly basis and as needed throughout the school year. Class Meetings allow for both students and the teacher to reflect upon the school week and/or events outside of the school day. Community Time Following Friday Class Meetings students have the opportunity to participate in Community Time. Students are encouraged to engage in activities with their peers, rather than play independently.

Math Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Adopted by Illinois and 47 other states in 2010 Goal of standards – to prepare students for college and career readiness through real world application

Math Common Core State Standards Main resource – EDM Supplemental resources identified to cover all standards EDM checklist will be replaced with the “Profile of Progress”

Gray box means that the skill was not directly taught in that quarter. Skills listed are the new Common Core State Standards. Students will receive a “B”-beginning, “D”-developing or “S”- secure. Goal is for all students is “S” or secure by the end of the year.

Weekly Spelling Tests Pre-Test AND Post-Test on THURSDAY’S Your child’s Pre-Test will come home in your child’s folder on Friday. You will notice either a T or a B at the top of your child’s paper. The T indicates your child needs to study the TOP section of the paper, plus the Commonly Misspelled Words and Challenge Words. The B indicates your child needs to study the BOTTOM section of the paper, plus the Commonly Misspelled Words and Challenge Words. Spelling Lists will be ed by 5pm on Friday. Regular Word List (80% or less TOP section of paper) Alternate Word List (90% or better BOTTOM section of paper) Words Follow Basic Vowel Patterns Commonly Misspelled Words Challenge Words
