WELCOME! 3 rd grade Back to School Night Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Swenson Room 20 ***Please hold your questions until after the presentation – we may answer them during the presentation!

 Mrs. Swenson is on maternity leave and Mrs. Jackson will be full time until Mrs. Swenson returns from maternity leave.

ABOUT MRS. JACKSON  6th year at Discovery  Married for 5 years  Has an almost 1 year old!  Westmont College

ABOUT MRS. SWENSON

JOB SHARE INFO  Mrs. Swenson is Monday and Tuesday  Mrs. Jackson is Thursday and Friday  Wednesdays will alternate by the month  **Mrs. Jackson will be here every day until middle of October!

DAILY SCHEDULE  8:45 – 9:15 – Math Warm-up/Attendance/Business Items  9:15 –11:00 – Language Arts/Reading groups  11:00 – 11:20 - Recess  11:20 – 12:50 – Math  12:50 – 1:35 – Lunch  1:35 – 3:10 – PE (M, Th), Writing, Music Library

HOMEWORK  Reading – 30 minutes, 4 nights a week ***reading log – We check for 4 logs/week ! (checked on Friday – please do 4 parent signatures)  Math – Dreambox and Ten Marks (computer/online)  Math – T, W, Th – review of topics learned in class

SUPPORT CLASSES  Library – Tuesday – 1:40 – 2:05  PE – Monday/Thursday – 1:35 – 2:15 (alternate Wednesdays)  Music- Friday – 1:40 – 2:10

BEHAVIOR  Positive reinforcement and praise!  Class Dojo - individual  Team points – homework pass for team with the most points  Marble jar – class decides what they want to do!

CONSEQUENCES

WATER BOTTLES  Please allow your student to have a water bottle, as it cuts down on the “traffic” by the water fountain.  Water is also great to have on PE days!  ONLY water is allowed – no juice, soda, etc.

WEDNESDAY  Every Wednesday is a shorter day.  Students get out at 2:10!

FRIDAY ENVELOPES  Important papers will be sent home each Friday. Please look through the folder and empty it.  Students return the empty folder on Monday.

STAR STUDENT  Sharing sack (items and photos) 3 items in bag, 12 photos  Favorite book Students read to the class  Parent letter Shared with the class about your student

DR. APPOINTMENTS  PLEASE try to make any doctor or dentist appointments in the afternoon.  Mornings in our classroom are filled with important reading time and groups that are very difficult to make up!

MISC.  Grading – 4, 3, 2, 1  Monday November 16 th - all day parent teacher conferences! (afternoons the rest of the week)  Website – lots of helpful information about our classroom.  Birthdays – wellness policy – no food (can do pencils/erasers, etc.)
