Terry Orlando Fall 2006 Special Graduate Seminar Series Pioneered by Professor Al Oppenheim for incoming graduate students in Area I Goal: to provide an advising experience for first year students in which students interact socially and professionally. This year there are 4 seminar series

Terry Orlando Fall 2006 Special Graduate Seminar Series Special Seminar I Professor Al Oppenheim (avo at MIT.EDU) Area I & III students (letter of invitation sent out) Special Special Seminar II Professor Steven Leeb (sbleeb at MIT.EDU) Open to all incoming graduate students Special Graduate Seminar for Women Professor Leslie Kolodziejski (leskolo at MIT.EDU) Women Students in EE (letter of invitation sent out) Finding a Research Home Seminar Professor Terry Orlando (orlando at mit.edu) Incoming graduate students who do not have a research home and who are not in one of the other three seminar series. Although any incoming student is welcomed to attend. Required of all students who do not have a reseach home.

Terry Orlando Fall 2006 Who should/can attend the Finding a Research Home Seminars? Any EE student who is on a 100% fellowship or teaching assistantship and who does not have a research home should attend. Any EE student who is signed up for 6.961, and who does not have a research home must attend the seminar series. CS assigns students a research advisor, so CS students do not need to attend this seminar series However, any student can attend the seminars if they like.
