|  Defines the scope and purpose of the S&H program  Outlines the safety principles and values  Identifies the Responsibilities  Senior Management  Safety Manager  Directors, Supervisors, Managers  Employees  Communicated to all employees

|  What is an IIPP?  Required of all CA employers with 5 or more EEs  Serves as an umbrella to the safety program  Consists of 8 Elements: 1.Management commitment to safety A.Assignment of responsibilities 2.Safety communication 3.Compliance and enforcement of safety policies 4.Identification and evaluation of workplace hazards 5.Accident investigation 6.Procedures for correcting unsafe conditions 7.Safety training 8.Recordkeeping 9.Code of Safe Practices (required for high hazard ERs)  Not having an IIPP can result in a $5K fine  Cal/OSHA number one fine

|  Encompasses all safety programs  Relevant to employer’s exposures ▪E.g. Personal Protective Equipment, Industrial Truck, Fleet Safety, Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E), Ergonomics, Bloodborne Pathogens, HAZCOM / HAZMAT  Policies must reflect field practices ▪Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA requirements ▪Developed as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all employees in hazardous areas conduct their activities the same way...the safe way
