Presentation transcript:

Nucleolus Makes ribosomes in the nucleus

Chromatin  Contains DNA; coils into chromosomes

Chromosome  Found in pairs in chromatin; DNA

DNA  Deoxyribonucleic acid; genetic code

Endoplasmic Reticulum  Provides transport for ribosomes and other materials

Ribosomes  Make protein in the E.R.

Golgi Bodies  Packages and moves materials in the cell

Mitochondria  Powerhouse; turns nutrients into energy

Vacuoles  *larger in plant cells; store water, food, and waste

Lysosomes  Digests proteins and waste; garbage can

Cell Wall  *Plant only; additional outer layer supporting plant cells

Chloroplasts  *Plant only; makes photosynthesis possible

Cell Membrane  Controls movement in and out of the cell

Cytoplasm  Gel like material inside the cell; holds organelles in place

Nucleus  Control center; regulates all cell activities

Nuclear Membrane  Surrounds and protects the nucleus
