Madhya Pradesh, often called the Heart of India, is a state in central India. Madhya Pradesh is the second largest state by area. The population of Madhya Pradesh is 7,25,97,565 million

History Madhya Pradesh occupies perhaps the oldest part of the subcontinent. Close to Bhopal at Bhimbetka are the pre-historic caves that preserve some fascinating paintings dating back to Paleolithic times. Experts have concluded that these are at least as old as the specimen at Pyrnees. This was perhaps one of the earliest dwellings of human beings.

Near Bhopal again, at Sanchi, one can see the votive pillar installed by the Greek Heliodorus which testifies to the fact that this region was exposed to cosmopolitan influences in the centuries before the birth of Christ. The grand stupa at Sanchi marks an important stage in the evolution of Indian architecture built by Emperor Ashoka the Great.

CUISINE OF MADHYA PRADESH The people of Madhya Pradesh are enticed by sumptuous dishes, making the cuisine an integral element of the culture of Madhya Pradesh. The foods are mainly hot and spicy. The culture of Madhya Pradesh, in true sense, is extensively recognised for its musical extravaganza and dancing rhythms. Music from the area includes rural folk and tribal music, ceremonial and ritual music and Indian classical music. The Gwalior Gharana is one of the oldest classical musicians of origin 1542–1605
