Digital Poem By: Jessica Jang
I walked up to the field of green, I stood still for a little while.
I sat down where I couldn’t be seen, My own little world inside a square mile.
The sun felt like fire on my face, The air was clear, not a cloud in the sky.
I was deep in outer space, On Earth, I closed my eyes and sighed.
I lay down and looked across the field, A pair of red sunglasses stared back at me.
I picked them up, for my eyes they were a shield, From the fireball in the sky that dried the trees.
This first day of summer was what I needed most, A few hours without worry, stress, or care.
For a little while, I could be an invisible ghost, I could pretend I was walking on air.
If I really wanted to, I could lie here forever, Though I have my life to catch up to.
Forgetting completely about my worries isn’t a possibility, ever, It would be nice, but it is something I could never do.
So I’ll stay here in the field of green grass, For only a few more minutes of serenity.
And the second I no longer need my red sunglasses,
I will return back to my reality.
