 Syllabus. (distribute, read & review)  All written work submitted must be typed according to “Written Assignment Format” guidelines. (distribute & review)  Pick up textbooks immediately. Reading assignment activities will begin next class.  “Discussion Question” guidelines. (distribute & review)

 Sign up for Twitter. Source of class-related messages.  Attendance is mandatory. When a class is missed, students must submit printed copies of completed of the online self-tests for chapters assigned on their day of absence. Links to the chapters are located at the bottom of the first page of the class web.  Students who use a cell phone during class without the instructor’s prior consent will be asked to leave the classroom. Zero tolerance.  A typed copy of the presentation outline must be submitted on the day of your presentation.

 A minimum of 5 different sources of information are required for the bibliography of each person’s presentation. The bibliography must include at least two non-Internet sources, one of which must be a subject matter expert, (SME). All bibliographic citations must be formatted according to MLA, 2009 guidelines as described in the “Hacker” text or at the Purdue University OWL (A link to the Purdue University OWL is located on the class web site.)  Note: This is the answer to a 5 point extra credit question on the mid-term exam.

 Web sources are permitted, but they must have substantial credibility. Wikipedia cannot be used as a primary citation source because of its contents’ ability to be changed by any visitor to the site.  Attributable “subject matter experts” (SME’s) are required sources for interviews.  Citation quantity and quality have substantial weight in the presentation grade (20%).
