Where is Haiti located? The Republic of Haiti is located in the Caribbean basin (which, geographically, is part of North America), in the western one- third of the island of Hispaniola, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. Government and Politics: The Politics of Haiti take place in a framework of a semi-presidential republic, pluriform[clarification needed] multiparty system whereby the President of Haiti is head of state directly elected by popular vote. The Prime Minister acts as head of government, and is appointed by the President from the majority party in the National Assembly.
