Time Machine Project by: Mary C. Lauren W. and Annie C.

America Is Fighting to Help and Recover Haiti -Haiti struggles from earthquake that damaged so much of their country. -The Red Cross has raised $10 million dollars for Haiti. -While the Red cross is helping Haiti in such big ways; other governments and international organizations are sending hundreds of million dollars more. -However, Haiti is not ready to receive this help. This is because their presidential palace and key ministry buildings are destroyed. - Because of that, Haiti now has no way to communicate with officials in the country side.

Haiti Earthquake did much damage but we are going above the line to help. -Haiti is going to be a troubled place for a long time, American military has been thinking a lot about how to help provide security and developed assistance for all foreign countries. - Obama administration is taking the important first step of giving undocumented Haitian immigrants temporary protected status; this is helping these Haitians because the Obama administration is making it so they can temporarily continue to live and work in United States.

How Are We Helping Haiti? - Haitians could benefit from policies striving to make Haiti less isolated from richer parts of the globe. - We've been reluctant allowing American Citizens to buy things from Haiti. -We could help by eliminate tariffs on haitian sugar. - However, none of these steps would provide immediate relief. -They would offer knowledge that business in Haiti has a future and give the haitians something to look forward to.

What can we use to help? -some things we used to help Haiti. - They used bull dozers so they could clear away all the rock and sediment that was left over from the earthquake. - They also used helicopters to lift up some of the people who were stuck in the damage to take them to safety. - Using these things after the earthquake, saved many people. Using the bull dozers made their job a lot easier towards saving people. Helicopters caused people to get to the nearest hospital making it a lot easier to to take more than one person at a time.

A lot of people donated to help Haiti; while others struggled to stay alive. - People make many benefits toward Haiti and brought ambulances & extra vans to help and support people as they struggle through the hard times. - Many people were, and still are on the verge of dying and need to be taken care of. People were in so much pain that they could not even lift their heads. Haiti brought multiple things to help the people breathe and even walk.

other technology used: - Some other technology used was to bring in all different kinds of boats to travel on water to carry out supplies that couldn't fit on the planes. - They used boats for taking the hurt or ill haitians from place to place to get the help that they need to recover from this dramatic disaster. - There were also vans roaming the lands of Haiti to pick up people in need of support and help. - Vans would then take the hurt and weak to where a plane or ambulance could take them to be helped with better treatments.

How would this help the Romans? If we had the technology we have today, we could help out the Romans in Pompeii in many ways. ---We could take our boats to the beaches of Pompeii to rescue people on the shores. I know that that had been attempted, but with lights and a navigator, we might have been able to see around the rescuers a little better and we would be able to navigate our way to land.

More ways we could help... We could fly helicopters over houses and feilds to help pick up the injured or people too close to the volcano. Then they could be taken to a safer place as the helicopters picked up people farther away from the volcano, but still in trouble. We could also take vans to pick up people running through the streets and drive them to safety, or at least out of Pompeii. I think gas masks would also be a good thing to have because the ash/dust would come before the eruption and it ended up choking people to death.

Lastly... We could have buildings that are storm proof, so as ash falls and winds pick up, people can stop and rest on their way out of the city if they are too tired to go on. These buildings wouldn't survive the actual eruption with lava, but people could still stay until they felt ready to run again. There is a lot of things we could do to help the Romans, just like the endless possibilities of things we could do to help Haiti.
