Historical Information Enabling legislation passed in March 1948 FEH BOCES established July 29, 1948 John F. Byrnes was the first District Superintendent Initially covered Franklin County except Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake Lake Placid and three Wilmington Districts added in 1966 Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake joined in 1968 Long Lake and Raquette Lake were added in 1971 resulting in the configuration that remains today Lighting the Way to the Future
