Presentation transcript:

Let’s learn about Watch D.O.G.S!

 The program began in 1998, and has brought thousands of fathers and father figures into schools across the country.  It was recognized by congress in 2000 as “a great tool in our efforts to prevent school violence and improve student performance because it can increase parental initiative and involvement in their children’s education.”

Watch D.O.G.S. are Dads of Great Students! The Watch D.O.G.S. program is an educational initiative of the National Center for Fathering. The two primary goals of the program are:  To provide positive male role models who, by their very presence, show a respect for the importance of education.  To enhance school security and reduce bullying.

The three winners are:  Children of the D.O.G.S. and other children at our school love spending time with all the dads. The children feel important and thrive on the extra attention dads give to them.  Dads get an insider’s look into their children’s school day. Dads learn more about their children’s academic and social worlds.  Teachers appreciate the support dads give to individual students and to small groups of students.

You will need a Child Abuse History and a Criminal Background History clearance. If you haven’t lived in PA for the past ten years, you will also need an FBI Background Check. Bring originals to school and we will make copies for our files. To apply for clearances, go to: Click “Administration” 3. Click “Human Resources” 4.
