7 th Grade Math Course Description Instructional time should focus on four critical areas: 1.Developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; 2.Developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations; 3.Solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume; 4.Drawing inferences about populations based on samples.

Grading Scale Students will explore math through a variety of projects, class work, writing assignments including journals, homework, quizzes, and unit exams. Grades will be assigned according to the grading policy in the Miller handbook. The following criteria will be assessed: 1.Classwork50% 2.Performance Based Assessments (Test/Task)40% 3.Homework (Given every night Mon-Thurs)10% TOTAL100% NOTE: Weekly performance assessments and quizzes will be given.

Classroom Expectations 1.I expect you to be in your seat and begin warm up. 2.I expect you to do class work and homework daily; show your work. If unsure about homework, try your best. 3.I expect you to keep your notebook current and organized. 4.I expect you to be an active learner. 5.I expect you to be respectful. 6.I expect you to be honest.

2014/2015 Student Dress Code Policy Pants or Skirts 1.Plain khaki, black or navy pants/skirts. 2.Jeans, shorts and cargo pants are NOT allowed. However, jeans are permitted on days designated by Dr. Flagg. 3.Pants must be of appropriate size, not flare legged, worn as designed and of ankle length. Pants designed to be worn below the top of the hip bone are not allowed. 4.Pants MUST have belt loops and MUST be worn with a belt. Belts can only be black or brown in color. 5.Pants MUST NOT be tucked into shoes or socks. 6.Skirts must be no shorter than two (2) inches above the knee. 7.Skirts cannot have any slits or openings.

2014/2015 Student Dress Code Policy Shirts 1.Plain white, blue, or yellow polo shirts ONLY. 2.Polo shirts can be long sleeve or short sleeve. 3.Polo shirts must have a collar. 4.School t-shirts, sweatshirts or sweaters, or plain white, blue or yellow color sweatshirts and sweaters are allowed. 5.All shirts must be of appropriate size. 6.Plain white undershirts or turtlenecks underneath polo shirts, school t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweaters are allowed. A Uniform Shirt Order Form can be picked up tonight as part of your Parent’s Guide to Success packet.

2014/2015 Student Dress Code Policy Shoes and Socks 1.Only BLACK or WHITE tennis shows can be worn with show laces that are the appropriate size for the shoe. 2.All shoes must have closed toes and heels. 3.WHITE or BLACK soft soled shoes (no heels allowed). 4.Plain white socks are to be worn with the tennis shoes.

2014/2015 Student Dress Code Policy Jewelry 1.Gold or Silver Jewelry only. 2.Dog tags are not allowed. 3.Pendants and earrings larger than a quarter and multiple bracelets are not allowed. Hair Each student’s hair must be neat, clean and well groomed. Dyed hair that is not a natural color or shade is not allowed with the exception for days when spirit day activities are scheduled by the school. “Unnatural” hair color includes, but is not limited to, hair that is dyed pink, purple, bright-red, yellow, blue, or green. In addition, any hair style and or hair accessories that could cause a disruption to the school setting may be prohibited at Dr. Flagg’s discretion.
