YourClassPage.com Slide 2 of April 2003 Objective This tutorial will walk you through several activities designed to provide you with the skills necessary to maintain your classpage. When you have completed this tutorial, you will have learned how to… 1. Sign in to the classpage editor 2. Change your password 3. Add your address to your classpage and enter preferred name and heading for your classpage. 4. Save your classpage changes. 5. View your classpage. 6. Add text to your classpage. 7. Add flashcards to your classpage. 8. Customize the background and text colors of your classpage. 9. Add links to other websites to your classpage. 10. Upload files to your classpage for students or parents to download 11. Save your classpage using the Notify Feature

YourClassPage.com Slide 3 of April 2003 Getting Started Sign-in from your school’s classpage directory: 1) Visit: 2) Enter your School Code. (typically your school’s 10-digit main telephone number with no dashes or spaces) 3) Find your name and click on “Teacher Sign-In” to the right of it. Sign-In using the password received from your administrator.

YourClassPage.com Slide 4 of April 2003 Changing “Your Password” Once you have successfully signed in for the first time, you should change your default password. Click on the button and then click the button. 1. Enter your current password. 2. Enter a new password. 3. Re-Enter a new password. 4. Click “Change Password”. From now on, you will sign-in and Save using the new password.

YourClassPage.com Slide 5 of April 2003 Changing “Your Info” In this step, you will update "your info". This includes your address, name, and heading for your classpage. Click the button and make any changes needed. NOTE: To go between fields of information, use your mouse and click on the field, or use the tab key on your keyboard.

YourClassPage.com Slide 6 of April 2003 Saving and Viewing When finished, click the button, enter password, and click the SAVE button. Now click the button that is under where you enter your password. Your classpage will be displayed in a new window. Make sure your information is what you want. If you need to make changes, repeat this step.

YourClassPage.com Slide 7 of April 2003 Adding Text In this step, you will enter your first set of classpage text. Click the button and then click in the text-box and type whatever you wish. You may also “Copy and Paste” text into this area from other documents, etc. To delete text, you can use your mouse and hold down the left button and highlight text you wish to delete. Then press the delete key on your keyboard.

YourClassPage.com Slide 8 of April 2003 Finishing and Saving Text When finished entering information in the text-box, click the button to return to the top of this form, enter your password, and click the Save button. View your classpage by clicking the button, and make sure your information is what you want. If you need to make additional changes, repeat this step.

YourClassPage.com Slide 9 of April 2003 Adding “Flashcards” In this step, you will add Flashcards to your classpage. Simply click the button and then enter one flashcard per line. You may first need to delete the sample flashcards we have included when your account was established. Flashcards are a great tool to offer your students for subject review! When finished entering information in the Flashcards text-box, click the button, enter your password, and click the Save button. Click the button, and make sure your information is what you want. If you need to make additional changes, repeat this step.

YourClassPage.com Slide 10 of April 2003 Changing Colors In this step, you will experiment with different colors for your classpage background and text. Click the button, then click a background color or background pattern. Then, if you wish, select a different color for your text. When finished selecting colors, click the button, enter your password, and click the SAVE button. Click the button, and make sure the colors are what you want. If you need to make additional changes, repeat this step.

YourClassPage.com Slide 11 of April 2003 Adding Links In this step, you will add some links to other websites that you think your students and parents may find useful. Click the button. You can enter up to 20 links to other websites. You can also add a comment for each link. Start with adding one link. An example might be The Smithsonian: For Link 1, type for the Web Address, and type "Online Resources from the Smithsonian Institution:" for the Comment. When finished entering your links, click the button, enter your password, and click the Save button.

YourClassPage.com Slide 12 of April 2003 Attaching Files If you have one or two files you wish to "attach" to your classpage for parents and/or students to download, click on the button. Then click on the "Browse" button and search your computer to identify the file you wish to attach and click open. Examples of files you may wish to attach include Word documents or Excel files. When finished identifying your file(s) to attach, click the button, enter your password, and click the Save button.

YourClassPage.com Slide 13 of April 2003 Advanced Step Using HTML Tags If you are interested in using HTML tags to liven up your classpage, you may do so in the Add Text section. There are many books and online information sources explaining HTML tags.

YourClassPage.com Slide 14 of April 2003 View Your Classpage! Remember, after saving, view your classpage by clicking the button, and make sure your information is what you want. If you need to make additional changes, repeat these steps.

YourClassPage.com Slide 15 of April 2003 SAVE and NOTIFY When completely finished, the very last thing you should do is save your classpage by clicking the button, entering your password, and clicking “SAVE and NOTIFY”. This saves your classpage and also automatically sends an to any parent or student that clicked on your classpage.

YourClassPage.com Slide 16 of April 2003 And There You Have It! A quick and easy way to communicate with students and parents. The best way to get used to your classpage is to work with it. Add and delete information. Experiment with Colors and have some fun with Flashcards.
