Card Sorting Exactly what it sounds like – users sort cards Can be done at any point in the design process Reveals content expectations and improves navigation

Task-Based Users work through tasks in scenarios while observed Can be done after page layout is decided (information architecture) Reveals issues with IA, functionality, navigation and design/presentation

Why invest time to conduct this research?

Tips Have a plan and stick to it Silent test subjects are useless – keep them talking Do NOT assist users who are struggling Follow an 80/20 rule with results
