BGreen: About The Areas The 5 areas of BGreen are in the St Mary’s and Coldhurst wards These are 2 of the most deprived wards in the borough 41.2% of adults in St Mary’s and 42.7% of adults in Coldhurst have no formal qualifications Coldhurst has lowest male life expectancy in the borough (70.1 years) and St Mary’s the 3 rd lowest (73.5 years) Shaw Road, on the edge of the BGreen area, is the 2 nd most deprived area in the country

BGreen: Investment Overview £10m ECO scheme – new biomass boiler and external wall insulation £11m Investment in properties and environmental works Will affect approximately 2400 residents in central Oldham Two Strands: ‘Your Home’ and ‘Your Life’

BGreen: ‘Your Home’ 1400 homes - New biomass boiler 600 homes - External wall insulation FCHO Improvement Programme – kitchens, bathrooms, electrical works, external works, communal stairwells, environmental works Will change the look of the area – new external finishes, railings, balconies, roof works, windows and doors

BGreen: ‘Your Life’ St Marys is a Public Sector Reform pilot (only 2 place based pilots across GM) Objectives Reduce dependency on public sector services Create more efficient ways of working Themes Creating resilient communities Health and wellbeing Employment and training

BGreen: ‘Your Life’ Developing a Community Investment Plan (CIP) which sets out both short term (12 months) and long term objectives (5yrs+) around key areas; Health Employment & Training Fuel Poverty Digital Inclusion Community safety Environmental regeneration Actions from CIP linked to Asset Modelling and Neighbourhood Plans Developing a single communications strategy for the BGreen area Created a Customer Advisory Panel Community Investment

BGreen: ‘Your Life’ Considering innovative ways of sustaining the community regeneration; Oldham MBC Public Health Service The Clinical Commissioning Group Greater Manchester Police Oldham Credit Union RSPCA British Gas FCHO has allocated 5 dedicated NOs, enhanced the caretaking service, and assigned additional staff to support the project which is an additional cost of £640,000 plus a further £100,000 kick start fund for the project Community Investment

Regeneration on this scale brings challenges and we must understand our varied role as a deliverer, a facilitator or enabler?
