PPS&T Conferences – 2009 PPC Status

The 2009 Pulsed Power Conference was held June 29 to July 2, 2009 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC. The Proceedings DVD have been produced and distributed to the registrants. The Conference Organizers are beginning the process of closing out the conference budget and accounts. The Conference is expected to break even. 55 manuscripts were submitted to the Special Issue of the IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science on Pulsed Power Science and Technology, many of which are enhancements of papers submitted to this conference. The Guest Editors are Larry Altgilbers (US Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Huntsville, AL), Randy Curry (U. Missouri-Columbia), Weihua Jiang (Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan), and Paul Smith (Oxford, United Kingdom). The Special Issue is set to appear October 2010.

PPS&T Conferences – PPPS-2013 Status Contract with the Hyatt signed – IEEE MCM assisted with negotiations Still considering options for meeting support (IEEE, TDMG, Mosaic, others?) Decided to NOT combine with SOFE PPS&T Conferences – 2015 PPC Status Planning on hold due to reorganization at IAT, UT Austin. Marc Crawford will report back at the May 25 PPS&T Committee meeting.

PPS&T TCS Conferences – 15 th EML Symposium

MOU signed with IEEE Special Issue of IEEE TPS will publish papers derived from this symposium. Guest editors are Scott Fish and Harry Fair of IAT, UT Austin. 160 manuscripts have been received and are under review.

Committee Updates Edl Schamiloglu has been reappointed as Chair for another year The current PPST committee membership comprises 24 active members of the pulsed power community. 16 of the members are voting members elected by the committee, and 8 are non-voting Ex Officio members. The Committee’s Constitution and By-Laws are undergoing review. We plan to include international representatives onto the committee, one from S. America, one from Europe and one from Asia. The revised C&BL will be voted on during the May 25 committee meeting.
