Organs of the respiratory system:

Nasal cavity- The function of this part of the system is to filter and moisten the air coming into the body 

Pharynx: Here is where the trachea which is the wind pipe and the food pipe separate. There is a small flap of cartilage called the epiglottis which prevents food from entering the trachea.

Larynx- This is also called the voice box where the body generates sound. This also protects the trachea.

Trachea- This is a tube that carries air from the throat to the lungs. The trachea is covered in tiny hairs called cilia and dust is removed by coughing.

Bronchi and Bronchioles The two tubes that the trachea divides into is called the bronchi, they both enter the lung. The bronchi spilt into even smaller branches known as bronchiole. Bronchi Bronchiole

Alveoli- The alveoli are tiny sacks. The oxygen gas is exchanged for carbon dioxide gas inside each of these tiny sacks.

Diseases: Bronchitis- accrues when your bronchi are enflamed. Pleurisy- a disease when your pleura The pleura are the outside lining of the lung. It causes a sharp are enflamed. pain in your chest when you breath in. Bronchitis- accrues when your bronchi are enflamed. It is a chronic disease but can be treated.

How to keep the system healthy: Eat healthy. Have fresh plants in your house and garden. Do exercise that leaves you breathless. Do not smoke!
