1998  All California’s clubs, bars, and restaurants are smoke free.  Disney’s Animal Kingdom opens at Walt Disney World, Orlando.  John Glenn (77) is the oldest man to go into space.

1995  Craig’s list was founded.  Brett Favre wins his first NFL most valuable player.  Yahoo is first founded.  Pocahontas is first released  Brett Favre wins his second most valuable player.  Lisa Marie Presley divorces Michael Jackson.

1997  Bill Clinton gets his second inauguration.  Michael Jackson’s son, Michael Joseph (Prince) Jackson Jr. is born  Ford Cougar is first produced.  The band Coldplay forms.  Google is founded.

 The United States is the world’s highest exporters of coal, soybeans, wheat, and corn.  Towards the end of the 20 th century the United States produced about 40% of the worlds goods.  From the United States had solid increases of outputting goods and low inflation rates.

 The clothing style was very casual and comfortable.  Flannel shirts and overalls were very popular.  Retro clothing was popular too.  The retro clothing brought back previous clothing styles in 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and the 1980s.

 Denim were extremely popular.  The tie dye and bright colors came back from the 1980s.  Leather became popular closer to the 21 st century.

 Some people thought that this period of time for music was the worst for pop music.  Others thought it was the best for pop music.  Some hit singers in this era were Boyz II Men, Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson, Prince, Mariah Carey, and Bon Jovi.

 Michael Jackson was popular in this time era.  He had many hit songs.  His song You Are Not Alone was a big hit in this time frame.

 In 1995 the price of gas to the gallon was $1.26.  In 2000 it cost $ gas ranged from about $1.26 to $1.54 Today gas costs about $2.68

The average price for a house in 1995 was $161,783. In 2000 the price was $163,500. The average price for a house today is $285,000

1996  Dexter’s Laboratory comes out on Cartoon Network.  It was about a boy named Dexter who had a huge secret laboratory with all of his inventions.

1997  A series called Johnny Bravo was produced.  It was about a boy named Johnny and had the characters acting out scenes of different movies like the Twilight Zone  The Power Puff girls was created.  The Power puff girls were three girls who had super powers.

1999  Ed, Edd, n Eddy was a hit television series.  This was one of the longest running series for cartoons.  Courage the Cowardly Dog started November 12,  Courage the Cowardly Dog was about a dog named Courage and his owners, a kind old woman and a grumpy old man.

 Blue’s Clues ran from  Blue’s Clues is one of the most successful cartoon.

 There was a lot of different types of fads in this era.  Some of the fad songs were: Ice Ice Baby- Vanilla Ice, Black or White- Michael Jackson Thriller- Michael Jackson, Achy Breaky Heart- Billy Ray Cyrus, Wanna Be- Spice Girls, Mmm Bop- Hanson, and My Heart Will Go On- Celine Deon.  The toy Tickle Me Elmo was popular for young children.

 Polly Pocket Toys were a big hit.  Beanie Baby stuffed animal the children loved.  The Beanie Baby had a tag on them with the stuffed animals name and birth date.  Overalls came back in this era and was worn by teens.

 Piercings of the belly button, eye brow, tongue, and etc was popular.  One big fad was bleached hair, either their whole head or just the tips.  The toy Furby was introduced in 1998 and became a big hit!  Backstreet boys, O Town, 98 Degrees, and N Sync was very popular.

 The computer program Java was invented.  Digital Versatile Discs are invented in They are shortened to DVDs.  Web TV is invented.

      
