Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) serves approximately 80,000 students within the state of Maryland. Our goal as a system is to elevate all students and eliminate all gaps. We (AACPS) also recognize that scientific and technological literacy is the key to developing tomorrow’s skilled workforce. In an effort to achieve this goal, we have developed an action plan to ensure success. 2

Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs Long Term Goals (3 – 5 Years) –Increase participation in STEM opportunities –Increase teacher capacity/ teacher quality in STEM methodologies –Create alternative STEM environments in order to provide additional STEM opportunities for students –Improve STEM cultural competencies and global social competencies 3

Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs Short Term Goals (1 – 2 Years) –Increase participation in competitions –Database of competitions –Increase students in Clubs –Invite Larry Shoop to present to our teachers and possibly principals on how to make teaching more engaging –Incorporation of System Science in Middle School starting with grade 6 –Develop an internal STEM teacher network – Develop a plan for a STEM Bus to travel to schools with engaging stem experiences for students. –Develop a plan for a Science/STEM center for students in southern AACPS –Incorporate System Science in middle school –Ashkoka Change maker Implement the new courses that were written and approved. 4

Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs Increase Participation in STEM Opportunities 6 ActionSuccess Measure Who is responsible Due Date Provide timely information to elementary, middle and high school principals on the secondary and elementary regional and county fair. Memo is prepared and sent out to all principals. Ensure all principals are aware of the due dates, timelines and support available to them such as training sessions for teachers. Science fair resources will be available on the website for parents and blackboard for all school system staff. Invite Larry Shoop from INTEL to present to teachers in the district. Teachers will participate in the professional learning experience. Begin developing a plan on the program offerings and scheduling. Purchase the STEM bus and develop a plan on what experiences will be offered, scheduling and staffing. Intel ISEF Educator Academy Intel ® Education Programs 13 Reflection As a result of your participation in the 2015 Educator Academy, please reflect on your experience Highlight what your team felt was the key learning from the Educator Academy This was a great opportunity for networking and learning from science educators internationally. What impressed you the most? The whole experience was well organized. There were numerous sessions for us to choose from but it was not overwhelming. Time allocated for us to meet with our teams.

All the keynotes were great. What would you improve? If possible bring some new technologies for us to experience. What types of Shop Talks were missing?
