Promoting Your Health Make responsible decisions about health and develop good healthy habits LIFESTYLE FACTORS (habits) – factors that affect: Overall health Happiness Longevity – how long you live Prevention – practicing health & safety habits to remain free of disease & injury. Ex: wearing sunscreen to protect skin from cancer
10 Lifestyle Factors (habits) 8-10 hours a sleep Healthy breakfast! Variety of nutritious foods Physically active for at least 20 min/day Maintain healthy weight Avoid tobacco, alcohol, & drugs Abstain from sex before marriage Manage stress Positive relationships Be safe to prevent injuries
