Measures The chart below for the most recent 3 month period indicates an improvement in compliance with falls risk assessment from 87.5% to 100%. Lessons Learned Lessons Learned/Key Insights Our staff are inquisitive and willing to problem solve together to assist clients in preventing falls and related injuries. We have a large pool of existing knowledge, including previously developed resources around falls and safety as well as staff, that we can draw upon. Even with a strong focus on falls prevention it remains that falls still occur with frequency in the population we are caring for; it would be easy to become despondent in the face of this challenge. However: The increase in the number of “reported” falls may be a feature of more sensitivity to their occurrence during the VLC as well as an indicator of more confidence in the mechanisms ( tools, databases, safety huddles) for reporting them.
