Why should we care?  Americans have grown heavier over the last few decades.  One reason might be what and how we eat…

What should I be eating?  How do you know what to eat?  How do you know how much to eat?

Portion Distortion  Just like the population, it seems like our food has been getting bigger too…

What is a serving? A serving….Looks like…. ½ cup of vegetables ½ cup cooked pasta ½ cup of beans 1 small bake potato computer mouse 1 medium piece of fruittennis ball 1 cup raw vegetables 1 cup dry cereal 1 cup low-fat yogurt/milk baseball, fist 1 small bagelhockey puck 1 small pancakeCD 2 oz. of cheese2 pairs of dice 2-3 ounces of meat, poultry or fishdeck of cards, palm of your hand N21 Version 3.0

What can I do?  Split entrée when eating out  Put half of your entrée in a to-go box as soon as it hits the table  Be aware of what a portion actually is (portion vs. serving)
