Before writing your paper, color code your research to figure out what facts belong in which particular paragraph. Figure out which fact best answers which question. What is it? Underline or highlight all facts that answer this question in pink. What causes it? Underline or highlight all facts that answer this question in yellow. What are the effects of it? Underline or highlight all facts that answer this question in orange.
PARAGRAPH ONE Your introduction should present the topic to your reader in an entertaining way, but remember, your main purpose is to inform your reader about the topic. Excessive silliness is frowned upon in serious writing. REMEMBER the BING, the BANG and the BONGO
i.e. What is a tornado? What is a geyser? Your next paragraph should tell your reader what your topic is. PARAGRAPH TWO The BING
i.e. What causes a geyser to shoot water into the sky? What weather systems must be in place for a hurricane to occur? Your next paragraph should tell your reader what caused the topic or what causes the topic to occur. PARAGRAPH THREE The BANG
Does this topic kill people or change the landscape in anyway? Your next paragraph should tell the reader how the topic affects the world around you. PARAGRAPH FOUR The BONGO
Paragraph five is your conclusion. Wrap up your paper with a strong concluding paragraph that reiterates the main point of your paragraphs above. PARAGRAPH FIVE
