Located in northeastern Mexico. It borders the states of Tamaulipas to the north and east and San Luis Potosí to the south, and Coahuila to the west. To the north, Nuevo León accounts for a 15 kilometer (9 mi) stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border adjacent to the U.S. state of Texas. 64,210 km 2

Nuevo León has an extreme climate, and there is very little rainfall throughout the year. Nuevo León has many biomes, which is why it has different climates. Some areas in the mountains are very cold in winter and temperate in summer. Extreme high temperatures of 47 °C or more occur on the desert areas while winters are short and mild. Some areas in the mountains are very cold in winter and temperate in summer

Nuevo León’s economy represents 11.4% of Mexico’s total gross domestic product or 105 billion USD, it also has a strong focus on export oriented manufacturing. The state government has been making efforts in attracting significant investments in aeronautics, biotechnology, mechatronics, information and communication technologies fields with the creation of the Research and Technology Innovation Park PIIT. Foreign direct investment in Nuevo León was 1,213.1 million USD for 2005.

"Up with the North, yes Sir !!" shouts a proud local of Monterrey known as Regiomontano, as he watches a football game and savors a "shepherd's" goat dish. Nuevo Leon shares most of its musical, dancing, and other cultural expressions with the rest of the northern Mexican territory, such as the polka, shotis or redova European dances, as well as local representations of huapango and the Jarabeado of Nuevo Leon, a mix of folk dance and music original from the communities of La Huasteca. The "Steel Park", former industrial site turned cultural and business compound, is a very popular attraction in Monterrey, as it offers many and diverse options such as public bike- routes; an Art Gallery; an Arts Center; the Steel Oven Trex-Museum; an ice-skating rink; the Nuevo Leon Cinema Club which hosts regional, national and international festivals; the Monterrey Arena home to concerts and large shows; the Coca-Cola Auditorium; and the great CinterMex Convention Center

Mexico is located at about 23° N and 102° W in the southern portion of North America.
