Consumer Math Unit 4

 Create a list of 10 places you would like to vacation.  Need the city and country names of those places.  Create a list of 10 things you would like to do while you are on vacation.  Share out as a whole class.  Have you had any experiences with vacationing? Share them!

 You are going to be assigned 1 country to research the monetary exchange rate for each of those country.  Refer to the project guidelines rubric handed out during class.  You and your partner will present your findings to the class.  Research is worth 35 points and presentation is worth 20 points!

 Mexican Peso: $1 US = peso; coin and paper; accepts American Money  Swiss Franc: $1.14 US = 1 swiss franc; coin and paper  Euro: $1.38 US = 1 Euro; coin and paper  Egyptian Pound: $.1432 US = 1 Egyptian Pound; coin and paper  Canadian Dollar: $1.00 US = $.97 Canadian Dollar; coin and paper

 Based on the information presented in class, individually rank the five different methods of travel. 1 being your first choice of travel and 5 being your last choice of travel.  Write AT LEAST 3 paragraphs describing the methods and reasoning behind why you ranked each the way you did. It needs to be legible so I can read it and understandable so I can comprehend it.  Write-up is worth 25 points!

 Brainstorm different types of accommodations:  Hotel  Camper  Room (ship)  Cabin  Tent  Bungalow  House

 You are going to research and present on your given type of accommodation.  Refer to the types of accommodations handout given to you.

 You are going to create an organization chart of the types of accommodations and the types of vacation you would use with each type.  Organization chart is worth 25 points!

 Brainstorm various types of entertainment you may pursue while on vacation. Estimate the associated costs with doing these activities for one person. You must have a minimum of 20 activities.  Rock climbing  Bungee jumping  Swimming with the dolphins  DisneyLand/ Disney World/ Universal Studios

 Think of all the different food expenses you could incur while on vacation. Also think of how/ who would prepare your meals!  Investigate at least 10 different types of food expenses. Research the following:  Where  Cost/ expense  Who prepares  What it is

 Refer to the Unit Project Outline and Rubric given to you.  This will be worth 100 points and will replace your test for this unit.
