SOLAR SYSTEM

Solar system includes the Sun and 8 planets 1) Mercury [‘mз:kjuri] 2) Venus [‘vi:nәs] 3) Earth [з:θ] 4) Mars [ma:z] 5) Jupiter [‘dju:pitә] 6) Saturn [‘sætәn] 7) Uranus [‘juәrәnәs] 8) Neptune [‘neptju:n]

The Sun is a typical star of Galaxy. It is a revolving ball of burning hot gas. Its surface seethes like water in a boiling kettle. Its diameter is km. The time of revolving on equator is 27 days. The surface temperature is 6000 С.

Mercury is the nearest planet to the Sun. It seems to be the hottest planet, but its side being to the Sun has the temperature till 430 С. Аt night it falls till -70 С. Diameter is 4878 km. The time of revolving on equator is over 58 days. The time of revolving around the Sun is 88 days. No satellites.

Venus is the hottest planet in Solar System. If you land on Venus, you will blaze, will be crashed by atmosphere pressure and will suffocate by carbonic acid. Diameter is km. The time of revolving on equator is 243 days. The period of revolving around the Sun is 224,7 days. No satellites.

Earth is the only inhabited planet. There are all conditions for living beings: suitable temperature, water and atmosphere. Diameter is km. The time of revolving on equator is 24 hours. The period of revolving around the Sun is 365 days. It has 1 satellite - The Moon.

The Moon it is neither a star nor a planet. It is a natural satellite of the Earth. The period of revolving around our Earth is 27 days. The Moon is the brightest object in a night sky. It doesn’t shine itself, it reflects the sunlight.

Mars is the only planet except the Earth which may be whenever was inhabited. Traces of rivers say that there there was the water. Its diameter is 6780 km. The time of revolving on equator is 24 hours 37 minutes. The period of revolving around the Sun is 687 days. It has 2 satellites: Fobos and Deymos.

Jupiter is the largest planet in Solar System. It is gas and liquid object, it hasn’t solid surface. Diameter is km. The time of revolving on equator is 9 hours 55 minutes. The period of revolving around the Sun is 12 years. It has 63 satellites.

Saturn is the second largest planet. It has thousands circles. They are from 1 cm till 5 m rotating icy and stone blocks. Saturn consists of only gas. Diameter is km. The time of revolving on equator is 10 hours 40 minutes. The period of revolving around the Sun is 29 years. It has over 50 satellites.

Uranus Gas containing in it absorbs red lights and reflects green and blue ones, that’s why Uranus is blue. Diameter is km. The revolving time on equator is 17 hours 14 minutes. The period of revolving around the Sun is 84 years. It has about 30 satellites.

Neptune The atmosphere of Neptune is the windiest in Solar System. The speed of winds is over 2000 km/h. Its diameter is km. The revolving time on equator is 16 hours. The period of revolving around the Sun is 165 years. It has over 10 satellites.
