Problem Statement and Project Goal HPV vaccination rates for Kansas have decreased since 2009 and are the lowest in the nation. Vaccinating our children now will protect our youth from experiencing cancer in the future. Together, we are working to increase HPV vaccination rates for our youth aged The vaccine is most effective when delivered to 11 and 12 year olds.

Stakeholder Engagement Key partners in our efforts include: – Immunize Kansas Coalition (Previously IKK) – Midwest Cancer Alliance – Kansas Cancer Partnership – The American Cancer Society – American Academy of Pediatrics, Kansas Chapter – Kansas Academy of Family Physicians – Kansas Local Health Departments (Geary, Gove, Grant, Harvey, Johnson, Labette, McPherson, Riley, Rooks, Saline, Smith, Thomas, Washington and Wilson Counties)

Upcoming Events Melinda Wharton, MD, MPH; Director, Immunization Services Division; National Center for Immunization & Respiratory Diseases; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will visit Kansas 5/6/2015-5/7/2015. There are several activities scheduled to allow provider participation. KFMC will host a screening of “Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic” in Wichita 7/30/2015. KFMC will be featuring a session about local partnerships to improve adolescent vaccines at the Quality Forum conference in Wichita 7/31/2015.

Provider Engagement KFMC is working with providers across the state on quality improvement efforts geared toward improving adolescent vaccination outcomes We are working with 38 practices statewide. Twenty-three of our IPG providers are local health departments
