ID-06 Building a User-Driven GEOSS Essential Components of User Management for GEO Tasks

Definition Develop and implement a GEOSS-wide management process that will achieve the following objectives that will ensure the realization of a User-Driven GEOSS : –Advance and enable user-oriented perspectives and needs in GEOSS development; –Enable development of communities of practice and provide direction on user-oriented perspectives and activities the communities provide GEO;

Definition (contd) –Foster and promote applications of Earth observations in decision making for societal benefits; –Improve Earth observations through enabling user- oriented feedback on observation products, tools, and data access and delivery; –Increase demand for Earth observations and raise expectations for the application of Earth observations in decision making;

Definition (contd) –Organize and broker connections between Earth observations experts and users/decision makers to enable, increase, and improve applications and build capacity. –Promote and enable GEO efforts to document users socioeconomic benefits attributable to Earth observations;

Deliverables: These objectives will be achieved through Support of GEO Work Plan, Targets, and Events and ensure a User-Driven Outcome Support of the user communities through the GEO Communities of Practice Identification of User Needs and Requirements GEOSS Applications and Societal Benefits Engagement Strategies GEO Professorship.
