Unit 4 and Unit 28- Young Carers. Nicole Fettin.

What is Young Carers? 0 Basingstoke Young Carers is a project of Basingstoke's voluntary services. It was established in 2009 and was created to help young people who care for their parents or relatives access to the services which they require. This helps them have a little break and have the fun that they deserve as young people. Basingstoke Young Carers provide projects, youth clubs, steering groups residential trips and events.

What do I want to do for the charity Young Carers? 0 My aim for the charity Young Carers is to create a promotional video to make the general public aware of what the charity is and what the charity is about. 0 Get across to the audience what the purpose of the charity is in a positive way to encourage them to donate money in order to keep this successful charity going.

Ideas for this project 0 My initial idea for this project is to create an promotional video to leak to the general public of Basingstoke to make them aware of where the charities are located, and how they need as much financial support as they possibly get, this is because the government decided they cant afford to fund the three charities anymore. These charities are Young Careers, Dial A Ride and Basingstoke Charities. 0 This project would reach out to the identified target audience because there is a specific event based around a range of different charities which desperately need funding. The public are aware of what this event is and what its about. People are attending this event on a £12 entry knowing specifically what this event includes. There was over 300 tickets sold at £12 and all this money gets split and donated to each individual charity. 0 The existing project I can link this project to is my social action video based around a charity located in Popley called Spotlight. They are similar because these videos have all been created to reach out to the general public and raise awareness. Also identify where each charities are located and how a little bit of your money can make such a difference.

Why am I doing this? 0 The reason why I’m doing this is because The Mayor Of Basingstoke held a variety show in October 2014 at the Anvil Arts in Basingstoke. He had specifically selected three different charities in Basingstoke which needed funding to keep on running. 0 The reason why Young Carers needed this funding and support from the local residents of Basingstoke is because the government made a decision to only fund a number of charities in Basingstoke. They did not see this charity as an urgent cause. 0 Young Carers do a fantastic job in providing an excellent service and letting children have a sense of escapism from their home lives. (caring for relatives or friends.) I think this is a crucial issue because it is not fair for children not to have a childhood.

What have I learnt about you as a charity. ( Young Carers) 0 You was established in January (2009) 0 You provide projects, young carers youth clubs, steering groups, and trips and events. 0 You help people with drug and alcohol abuse, mental health problems or domestic violence. 0 This also includes hard to reach children and people who are affected by their parents behaviour through drug and alcohol abuse.

CREW 0 Nicole Fettin 0 Gemma Walker 0 Lucas Roberts 0 Emily Chapman 0 The roles that this project has included range from camera operation, attending regular meetings with the different charities to discuss what they want to be included in their personal promotional videos. This is for Basingstoke Charities, Dial A Ride and Young Careers. We split the roles evenly between us to make this fair and also we all had a go at each different aspect, like camera operation.

Timescale 0 Before we start any of the filming for this project, the group and I will arrange meetings with the founders of the charities and discuss what are their aims of their charities and why do they need more support and donations by the general public. Also I want to discuss what the key things they want to be included in their promotional video. 0 The planning stage for this project will end when we have met all three founders of the charities and had a discussion with them about the charities and asked them what they want to be included in their promotional video. 0 The days which we will need client involvement is when we have arranged meetings for and our group would want them to be present when we are filming. 0 This project was designed and given to us by The Mayor Of Basingstoke. He is holding a charity event at The Anvil Arts in early October. We was on a strict deadline to have all three videos planned, prepared, filmed and edited a week before this event. The reason why it had to be completed a week before is because the mayor and the founders of the charities need to view the videos and make sure its up to a professional standard, also make sure everything they wanted to be included was displayed in the video.
