 Researched the “Flooding” phenomenon that occurs during countercurrent flow  Mentor: Dr. Karen Vierow  Dr. Isaac Choutapalli  Graduate genius: Nikki Williams

The goal of engineering is to keep the public safe and never have another accident like these.

 NRC contacted Dr. Vierow; Can the tubes in the steam generator rupture during a LOCA?  Research gave them usable data; Dr. Vierow asked a question, What are the events in the surge line of the pressurizer during a LOCA?  DOE funded research to ascertain the conditions under which flooding occurs during countercurrent flow.

A fuel pellet this size has the power of about a ton of coal

 Countercurrent flow in weather, Sea Breeze, tornado  In water currents, Ocean currents, Tidal surge  Work Power & Energy, Systems, Energy Transformation, Heat transfer  Chemistry, Nuclear, Fusion, Fission, Decay, Half-life, Boron, Zirconium  Biology, Countercurrent flow, environmental, Cancer, Circulatory system
